We've just put the first beta release of BSDanywhere online - enlightenment at your fingertips.
This time we had to learn how to populate the E17's bottom panel (the 'bar'), so users are able to launch applications with a click. The 'Applications' menu is still empty, however the 'Favourite Applications' menu is filled since alpha3, I believe.
Tor and Privoxy are now started by default during bootstrap. This enables users to surf the web in a more anonymous way. However, in order to use it, Firefox' internet connection settings need to be changed. To simplify this procedure, we wanted to preinstall Torbutton, an extension that allows you to enable/disable the tor usage easily with one click.
However, for some reason the automatic installation with firefox -install-global-extension torbutton.xpi doesn't seem to work. That's why we've pre-downloadad the extension into '/home/live' only - just drag'n drop into firefox if you'd like to install it.
By the way: We're searching for bandwidth - or, more precisely, for mirror servers in other countries who are willing to host the iso images of BSDanywhere. Please contact us if you'd like to help out.
This is it for now, happy testing!
Stephan
